Ladies Football
AGM
Our AGM was held on Saturday 16th January in the Club Centre with a large turnout present. Proceedings were opened by Chairman Séan O’ Dwyer. This was followed by comprehensive reports by Secretary Séamus Cleere and Treasurer Tom Power. It wasn’t a successful year on the playing field, with the senior team been knocked out of the championship at the semi-final stage by Ballygunner who went on to win it. The intermediate team put in a major effort all year and made it to the Eastern-Final, but were beaten by Clonea. The junior team got to the quarter-finals after remaining unbeaten in the league section however they were beaten by Clonea. In the under 21 championship we lost out narrowly to Passage by a one point margin. While the minors also lost out in the semi-final stage to a Dunhill-Fenor side. However our minors retained their football title, comfortably beating near neighbours De La Salle in the county final. The junior footballers had a good league campaign while going down heavily in the Eastern semi-final.
Off the pitch there has been ongoing development with the completion of the top class ball alley which will be officially opened on June 5th by the President of the GAA. This is a major investment by the Club for future generations of Cnoc Síon Hurlers. The election of officers were as follows: Chairman Séan O’Dwyer; Vice-Chairman Kevin Ryan; Secretary Séamus Cleere; Treasurer Tom Power; Registrar Paul Fanning; Development Officer Anthony Kirwan; Fundraising Josie Evans; Ladies Committee Betty Forristal and Committee members Phil Fanning, Brian Flannery, Jim Greene, Roy McGrath and Pádraig Ó Murchú. The only new change is the retirement of Eamonn Ryan as development officer who will be replaced by Anthony Kirwan. We would like to thank Eamonn for his commitment and hard work during his service. Ian O’ Regan will captain the senior team for the 2010 campaign, while Christopher Ryan will be vice-captain. With incredible performances through-out the year not only for his club but also for the county team, Martin O’ Neill picked up the well deserved young player of the year award presented by Jim Greene in memory of his late father Paddy Greene. The senior hurler of the year award went to Christopher Ryan, whose performance all year was outstanding and is well earned. Congratulations to all involved.
