Under 7s
We had two Under 7 teams in action last Saturday in the Sports Hall in the WIT. Both teams did well considering we don’t train indoor since our All-Weather pitch opened three years ago. The Blue team consisting of PJ Bolger, Dylan Browne, Sean Doocey, Josh Hodgers, Billy Mc Lawrence, Adam O Connor, Ben Regan, Dean Walsh, Evan Mackey, and Scott Ryan played the De la Salle red team and the Sacred Heart Blue Team. The White team players were Niall Geraghty, Edward Lambert, Darragh McGrath, Jack Sweeney, Paul Wall, Adam Walsh, Jack Cashman, and Jamie Hutchinson and they played the De la Salle white team and the Roanmore white team. Well done to all including the mentors Nicky Mackey, John O Keeffe and Eric Curran. The same teams will take part in the Indoor Football this coming Saturday. Best of luck to both teams.
Under 13’s
The Under 13s took part in the Astro Turf Blitz on Friday last playing Ballygunner, De la Salle and Roanmore. The team put in some great performances with good teamwork on display throughout. In goal was Dylan Sheridan, the backs were Mikey Daykin and Andrew Doherty, midfield was manned by Ryan Flanagan and Ben Flanagan and the forwards were Dean Flannery and Shane Wyse. They will play again this coming Friday and I’m sure that they are looking forward to it.
Training Times
Age 5-6 – 12 noon to 1pm.
Age 7-8 – 11am to 12 noon.
Age 9-10 – 1pm to 2pm
Under 12s – 6-7pm (Monday & Thursday)
Under 14s 6 – 7.30pm (Tuesdays & Thursdays)
All the sessions will take place on the Astro-turf pitch & Hurling Alley.
Minor Football
Sunday last saw our minors out in action against An Gaeltacht in the defence of their Football title. The lad’s put in a good effort however it wasn’t reflected on the scoreboard, with several goal chances squandered especially in the second half. The final score was 1-10 to 1-1. Next Sunday we take on Roanmore in Gracedieu at 11.30am.
Membership
Membership is now due and can be left behind the bar or contact Paul Fanning. Deadline for membership is 31st March. I ask everyone to make the effort to pay as soon as possible. Membership rates are as follows: Hurling & Football – €50; Family – €50; Student €20; and Social Membership – €15.
Primary School Hurling
Training for Mount Sion School under 11 and 13 teams continues on Tuesday at 3pm to 4.10pm on the Astro Turf and Ball Alley.
Yard hurling leagues are back in full swing this week. Monday-3rd Class; Tuesday 2nd Class; Wednesday 4th & 5th Class; and Thursday 6th Class.
Ladies Football
Ladies Gaelic Football Training continues every Tuesday at 7pm. New players are welcome.
Congratulations
Congratulations to St. Pauls on reaching the Munster B Schools Final, beating Tramore on a score line of 2-19 to 1-8. Our own Ian Galgey, Martin and Stephen O’ Neill, Stephen Roche, Martin F. O’Neill and Darren Flanagan were all involved.
