Intermediate
The Intermediate hurlers kicked off the weekend of hurling with a well deserved win over Portlaw in Walsh Park. Portlaw controlled the opening minutes of plan, but points from Stephen Roche from the placed ball kept Mount Sion in touch. Portlaw goaled midway through the half to gain a 3 point lead, but further points from Dan Kelly and Dermot O’Byrne drew the sides level at half time. Both teams traded points, and veteran hurler Brian Greene grabbing two goals to give Mount Sion the lead. Jamie O’Meara closed the scoring with a long range free to give Mount Sion the win.
Junior Hurling
The Junior hurlers took on Passage in what was a one sided affair. Mount Sion opened the scoring with points from Aaron Dempsey, Brian Hennessy, Evan Sheridan and Nicky Quinn. Rory Sheridan stroke for goal, before Passage replied with 5 points to leave 8 between them at half time. The second half was much of the same with further goals added by Lee Thornton and Patrick Bowe to run out easy winners on a score line of Mount Sion 3-17 to Passage 0-9.
Senior
A last minute goal by substitute Ian Galgey gives Mount Sion a two point win. Lismore opened the scoring within two minutes with a goal. Points from Sean Ryan and Martin F O’Neill reduced the margin before Lismore gained a 5 point lead. Martin F O’Neill grabbed one of his three goals before Lismore hit back with another goal. Two further goals by the young minor and 3 frees by same left 3 between the sides at half time. An error by Mount Sion keeper gifted Lismore a goal but Mount Sion responded with points from Eoin & Ken McGrath, Anthony Kirwan and a Tony Browne free. In the final minutes an Ian Galgey strike gave Mount Sion the lead for the first time in the game. Anthony Kirwan closed the scoring to give Mount Sion a 2 point win. Final Score Cnoc Sion 4-13 to Lismore 3-14.
Ballyduff Upper Tournament (Under 10s)
Our under 10s travelled once again to Ballyduff Upper and they played Fermoy of Cork in the semi-final after a thrilling game it ended up Fermoy 2-0 and Mount Sion 1-3. Game went to extra time and Mount Sion came out winners on a score line of 2-8 to 2-1. In the final we played Abbeyside and this was a marvelous game of hurling which again ended up in a draw 2-4 each. Game again went to extra time and at half time in extra time, game was still a draw with the two teams swapping point for point, in the last minute Abbeyside got the winning point to win 2-8 to 2-7. This was a very competitive and skillful game of hurling played by two great teams to which all the supporters enjoyed. We’d like to thank Ballyduff for inviting us into their well organized tournament and we’ll look forward to be competing next year. To all our boys who took part over the two days, ye done yourselves proud and the club proud with your attitude and effort. Under 14
Our Under 14s bowed out of the championship to Cois Bhride after a disappointing display on such a miserable night. The home team was always in control and deserved the win. The mentors would like to take this opportunity to thank any parents who gave lifts to games, it was much appreciated.

We wood just like to wish the best of luck to any of our hurlers who are doing the Leaving Cert and Junior Cert over the coming weeks.
Training Times
Age 5-7s (Born in 2003-2006) – 12 noon to 1pm (Saturdays);
Age 8-9s (Born in 2001-2002) – 11am to 12 noon (Saturdays);
Age 10-11 (Born in 1999-2000) – 1pm to 2pm (Saturdays);
Under 11 & 12s – 6pm-7pm (Tuesdays & Thursdays);
