Senior Championship
The 4th round of the Senior Hurling Championship took place last Saturday evening against Passage in Walsh Park. Mount Sion were forced to start without the services of the injured Tony Browne and his experience and leadership was sorely missed over the hour of hurling. The Mount Sion defence found it hard to cope with Eoin Kelly in the early stages but Ken McGrath kept Sion in touch from the placed ball. Mount Sion were awarded a penalty which was saved and cleared by the Passage defence. Passage led at half time by 10 points but they were reduced to 14 men midway through the first half. Mount Sion started the second half with Ross O’Keeffe returning to action after a shoulder injury and placed his mark on the game with a well taken point. Mount Sion finished the game also with 14 men when Eoin McGrath was sent off for a second bookable offence. Martin O’Neill scored a consolation goal but Passage finished the half stronger and deserved the win. The final score was Mount Sion 1-11 to Passage 2-15.
