Under 12
Our 1st game of the City League got off to a wining start, with a win over Piltown in Mount Sion on Friday night last. We played very well in the opening half with two goals from Alan Kirwan and points from Ben Flanagan, Louie Halligan, Evan McGrath and Ben Sinnott. In the second half we withstood great pressure from Piltown and a good goal from Ryan Denton eased that pressure. Overall it was a great performance, with some good passages of play. Others to shine were Aaron McGrath on goal, Luke O’Brien, Jordan Hutchinson, Jack Whelan, Jonathon Flynn and Charlie Costello in the backs. Michael Flynn, Aaron Healy, Conor Flavin and Daniel Jacob all contributed in a hardworking performance. Final score Mount Sion 3-6 Piltown 0-5. The under 12s play their second game against Roanmore in Roanmore on April 16th at 6.30pm.
Under 14
We played a strong De La Salle team in Roanmore’s Gracedieu complex in the Feile Quarter-final on Thursday last. We started strong with a good goal from Cian O’Regan but finished the half trailing by 1-4 to 2-4. In the second half we faced into a strong breeze, however an early free from Evan Curran fooled the keeper and sailed into the back of the net. A goal by Aidan Power followed quickly but De La Salle took control for the remainder of the match and finished 3-15 to 3-5 winners. There were good performances from Conor Malone on goal, Ben Flanagan, Aidan Power and Cian O’Regan. Training continues at 6pm on Fridays, all are expected to attend.
Under 16
Our under 16’s played Tramore in their first game of the championship which had to be rescheduled to Friday due to bad weather on Monday. We played very well throughout and finished strong winners on a score line of 7-7 to 2-7. It was an all round performance with good performances from Austin Gleeson and Joey Sinnott in attack, midfielders Darren Finn and Cathal Dower and Peter Penkert and Aaron Coady in defence.
Ladies Football
The Ladies Football team took on Ballysaggart on Saturday last in Mount Sion. It was a good performance by the ladies as they continued their winning ways, running out comfortable winners on a score line of 4-11 to 0-5. We wish Ciara Keogh a speedy recovery and we hope to see her back in action soon.
