Mount Sion GAA Club News

Under 8s

We had two Under 8 teams who took part in a hurling blitz in Ballygunner last Saturday where they played some tough opposition against De La Salle, Roanmore and Ballygunner. Next Saturday the boys will take part in the football blitz at the same venue starting at 11am sharp. Best of luck!

Under 13

Due to the awful weather we had on Friday night last, the first night of the Under 13 Astro Turf hurling in Carraiganore was called off. The second night will go ahead as planned on Friday night, Times TBC but will be posted on the Under 13 page on the website, once they become available.

Minor Football

Last Sunday saw the minor footballers play their first league game of the championship away to Ardmore. This was a tough encounter with the seaside town coming out on top. Next Sunday the minors play Dunhill/Fenor in Fenor at 11:30am.

Membership

The deadline for this years membership is soon approaching, so if any members have not paid their membership can they please contact our Registrar Paul Fanning on 086-1724807 or membership monies can be left behind the bar. Everyone is asked to make a special effort to pay as soon as possible. Membership rates are as follows: Hurling & Football – €50; Family – €50; Student – €20 and Social €15.

Deise Draw

Want to support Mount Sion? Buy a Deise Draw ticket for the coming year! Monthly draw with Cash prizes including a top prize of €10,000! Tickets are €90 for the year or €10 a month for 9 months. The club receives 70% of all sales! Contact Josie Evans or the club on 051-372648. It is important that we support this major fundraiser for the club!

Up & Coming Events

13th March – Pat O’Brien and Kenny Stafford are playing in the club at 5pm-7pm, after the National Hurling League game of Waterford v Galway.
17th March – St. Patricks Day music is Cassidy from 8pm-10pm.

Darts & Cards

Darts and Cards for club members. Come along and join in the fun. Darts takes place every Thursday night with Cards on Friday nights, both starting around 10pm. Great prizes on offer!! All Club Members are welcome.

Coaching

There has been a great number attending training over the last couple of weeks and we ask if any new players what to join please go along at the below times. Here are the training times for next Saturday.
9 & 10 year olds (born in 2001 & 2002). – 11.00am to 12 noon. Coached by Damien Frisby, Roy McGrath Seamus Nolan, Shane O Grady and George O Grady.
5 & 6 year old (born in 2005 & 2006) – 12 noon to 1pm. Coached by Peter Walsh, Lindsay Grace, James Dunphy and Martin Walsh.
7 & 8 year olds (born in 2003 & 2004) – 1pm to 2pm. Coached by Nicky Mackey, John O Keeffe, Michael Frisby and Eric Curran.
