Minor Football
Last Sunday saw the minor footballers travel to Fenor to take on the combined teams of Dunhill, Fenor & Butlerstown. The home team were first to strike with 3 points before Austin Gleeson scored a point and Sion’s only goal of the game. Lee Halligan added a point for Sion with D.F.B. adding a point to their tally but Sion led at half time by 1 point. In the second half Sion only managed to score one point, coming from Shane Forristal, while D.H.F with the wind scored 2-1. Final score Mount Sion 1-3 Dunhill/Fenor/Butlerstown 2-5.Next Sunday the minors will play Ferrybank in Mount Sion, throw in at 11:30am. Please get up and support the lads!
Under 8
This week saw the introduction of the “big ball”, as the boys participated in the indoor football blitz in Ballygunner. We had two teams involved on the day and the boys put in some great effort. Well done to all involved and also a special thanks to their mentors. Pictures of the blitz are online!Under 13
These young lads took part in the Carraiganore Astro Turf Hurling Blitz last Friday night with a good start to the year with 2 wins out of 3. We entered two teams and they played De La Salle, Clonea, Passage and Sacred Heart. Well done and keep the effort up for the rest of the year.
Under 11
Our under 11’s took part in a football blitz on Saturday the 26th February. The boys played four games winning three and losing one. They played against De La Salle in two of the games and against Gaultier and Sacred Heart. We had great performances in all games, with some great scores by all the lads.

Under 14
Next Sunday our Deise Decoration sponsored Under 14s are playing the Feile Quarter Final v De La Salle at 11am, venue TBC but keep an ear our and check the website and Facebook for more information.
Ladies Football
Ladies Football will start back this Tuesday night at 8pm-9pm. All new and existing players are welcome to attend. Last year was a very successful one, heres hoping to another. Best of luck to all the girls and their management.
Membership
The deadline for this year’s membership is soon approaching, so if any members have not paid their membership can they please contact our Registrar Paul Fanning on 086-1724807 or membership monies can be left behind the bar. Everyone is asked to make a special effort to pay as soon as possible. Membership rates are as follows: Hurling & Football – €50; Family – €50; Student – €20 and Social €15.
Deise Draw
The Deise Draw has been a big fundraiser for our club for many years. So if any members or anyone knows of people who would like tickets, could you please contact Josie Evans or any member of the Fundraising Committee. Monthly draw with Cash prizes including a top prize of €10,000! Tickets are €90 for the year or €10 a month for 9 months. The club receives 70% of all sales!
Up & Coming Events
13th March – Pat O’Brien and Kenny Stafford are playing in the club at 5pm-7pm, after the National Hurling League game of Waterford v Galway.
17th March – St. Patricks Day music from Cassidy from 8pm-10pm.
Darts & Cards
Darts and Cards for club members. Come along and join in the fun. Darts takes place every Thursday night with Cards on Friday nights, both starting around 10pm. Great prizes on offer!! All Club Members are welcome.
Juvenile Training Times
Here are the training times for next Saturday. New players are always welcome and hurleys and helmets can be supplied.
9 & 10 year olds (born in 2001 & 2002). – 10.30am to 12 noon. Coached by Damien Frisby, Roy McGrath Seamus Nolan, Shane O Grady and George O Grady.
5 & 6 year old (born in 2005 & 2006) – 12 noon to 1pm. Coached by Peter Walsh, Lindsay Grace, James Dunphy and Martin Walsh.
7 & 8 year olds (born in 2003 & 2004) – 1pm to 2pm. Coached by Nicky Mackey, John O Keeffe, Michael Frisby and Eric Curran.
