Mount Sion Gaa Notes

Under 12

Our Under 12s travelled to Limerick to take part in an activity day in the Gaelic Grounds. We played three games winning all three comprehensively. The panel on the day was Eoghan Browne, Conor Quinn, Jonathan Flynn, James Ogundare, Eoin Power, Evan McGrath, Jordan Halpin, Jordan Roche, Jack Meaney, Luke O’Brien, Eoghan Power, Bill Wall, Thomas McLawerence, Charlie Costello, Alan Kirwan and PJ Fanning. We also had a little Team Mascot on the day, Jamie Meaney. Well done to all. If anyone took pictures on the day please forward them on to Savo at owen@mountsiongaa.ie

Junior Hurling

Last Saturday the Junior hurlers took part in the Dunhill 7s tournament. We accounted for Dungarvan, Dunhill, Colligan and Butlerstown in the league and qualified straight to the final where we took on Colligan. We threw everything including the kitchen sink at this team but the Colligan keeper was unbeatable and the time ran out. Hard luck lads, the Eastern Semi-Final is soon approaching so keep up the effort in training.

County Teams

Best of luck to the Waterford Minor hurlers as they play the All Ireland Semi-Final on Sunday next against Dublin. We especially wish Shane Forristal and Stephen O’Neill the very best of luck. Up the Deise!!

Granville Hotel Award

Well done to Tony Browne on winning the Granville Hotel Sport-star of the month award for July. Again this award is more than deserved for our ageless wonder that is Tony Browne. Well done Tony.

Munster Rugby

Well done Orla O’Neill on been selected for the Ladies Munster Rugby panel. Orla is part of both our Ladies Football and newly established Camogie team. Congrats Orla.

Darts & Cards

Darts and Cards for club members. Come along and join in the fun. Darts takes place every Thursday night with Cards on Friday nights, both starting around 10pm. Great prizes on offer!! All Club Members are welcome.

Training Times

Here are the training times for next Saturday. New players are always welcome and hurleys and helmets can be supplied to those who don’t have any. Also please note training is free of charge and parents are more than welcome to come along and watch.

9 & 10 year olds (born in 2001 & 2002). – 10.30am to 12 noon. Coached by Damien Frisby, Roy McGrath Seamus Nolan, Shane O Grady and George O Grady.

5 & 6 year old (born in 2005 & 2006) – 12 noon to 1pm. Coached by Peter Walsh, Lindsay Grace, James Dunphy and Martin Walsh.

7 & 8 year olds (born in 2003 & 2004) – 1pm-2pm. Coached by Nicky Mackey, John O Keeffe, Michael Frisby and Eric Curran.
