Mount Sion Gaa Club Notes

Adult Presentation Night

With the recent success of both of Junior Teams we will be presenting their medals on Saturday 4^th February in the Club Centre along with the Minor Football Medals from 2009!! It’s going to be another big club event with great music on the night from Lebowski!! Followed by DJ till late. Tickets are limited so get yours early to avoid disappointment!! Tickets are on sale next week and are €5 each!!

Late Margaret Doherty (Barrett)

As a club we were all saddened to hear the tragic news of the passing of Margaret Doherty (nee Barrett) late last week. Margaret is mother of one of our young stars Andrew Doherty, who just last month received Under 14 player of the year. On behalf of the club I would like to offer our sincere condolences to Andrew and his sister Kate and to both the Doherty and Barrett family on the loss. Ar Dheis Dé Go Raibh Sí.

The GYM

Over the last number of months the club has built a gym through many of our club members giving up their free time and expertise. The gym is open to all members and keys are to be signed in and out from the Bar. It is suggested that you would leave a donation in the donation’s box behind the bar when you use the gym. All money received will be used to buy more equipment for the gym.

The club would like to thank all the volunteers who gave up their free time in the construction of the gym and the benefits that it will bring to the club will hopefully be seen in seasons to come.

Membership

Membership is now due for 2012. The following are the rates for this year. Family €50, Adult Hurling & Football Member €50, Student €30 and Social Members €15. Please either see our Registrar Paul Fanning or leave your name and money behind the bar.

The Interview Room

Over last week we had Conor Butler as our Juvenile Interview and we had Brian Greene for our Adult Interview. I’m looking for more people to take part, so if you’re interested please contact Savo ASAP. To see the lad’s answers and all the lads who have participated over the last number of months, get onto the website and look for the interview room or juvenile interview room under the news tab. www.mountsiongaa.ie . New Juvenile interviews are added every Tuesday and adult interviews are added on Thursdays.

Last Man Standing

The next Last Man Standing Competition is starting the weekend of the 21^st January. If you would like to join in the craic and be in with a chance to win a cash prize, leave your name and entry money behind the bar before Thursday 19^th January. Entry Fees are €5 for Under 16s and €10 for over 16s. See our “The Last Man Standing” Page on the website under the news tab to catch up with the results!

Chess Club

Chess club takes place every Tuesday night in the club at 9:30pm. We hope to see the regular faces and some new ones up next Tuesday.

Darts & Cards

Darts and Cards for club members. Come along and join in the fun. Darts takes place every Thursday night with Cards on Friday nights, both starting around 10pm. Great prizes on offer!! All Club Members are welcome.

Training Times

Training will be restarting up for 2012 in the coming few weeks. Once I receive the information and times, it will be available both on the weekly notes and the website calendar. We hope to see ye all back in January/February!!
