Mount Sion Gaa Club Notes

Under 21s

The first championship of the year kicked off last Sunday afternoon were we faced Rathgormack, but unfortunately it wasn’t a good start, where a poor first half performance cost us dearly as we chased the game from the off. However to Sion’s credit a better second half performance brought some respect to the score-line with Sion’s goal coming from Captain Ian Galgey late on in the second half. It ended Cnoc Sion 1-8 to Rathgormack 2-14.

Under 8s

Our two under 8 teams took part in a blitz in Ballygunner Hall last Saturday and it was another great success with all the boys getting loads of games of hurling. Well done to all involved.

Deise Draw

The first Deise Draw of the year will take place on Friday 30^th March. Tickets can be bought from any of the promoters or from behind the bar. A list of all promoters names can be seen on the notice board in the club. Tickets are €10 per draw. This year you will have the chance to win a top prize of a car in the March draw and in the May, August and November Draw’s there will be a special draw for a €1,000 holiday voucher and €500 spending money.

Juvenile Training Times

The following are the times and venues are for juvenile hurling training:

5 to 7 year olds Children born in 2005, 2006 & 2007 takes place at 12 Noon every Saturday on the All-Weather Astro-Turf Pitch at the Club Grounds.

Juvenile Camogie Training also takes place on Saturdays at 12 noon on The All-Weather Astro-Turf Pitch at the Club Grounds.

8 & 9 year olds, Boys born in 2003 and 2004 takes place from 11am-12pm on Saturdays at the Club field.

10 & 11 year old boys takes place on a Friday nights at 6pm-7pm on the All Weather Pitch.

Looking to get your child involved in sport or meet new friends. Then bring them along to the correct age group or contact Juvenile Chairman Peter Walsh for more information. Training is 100% free and hurleys and helmets can be supplied to those who need them. Best of luck to all the children and coaches for 2012!!

Membership

Membership is now due for 2012. The following are the rates for this year. Family €50, Adult Hurling & Football Member €50, Student €30 and Social Members €15. If you haven’t already paid can you please either see our Registrar Paul Fanning or leave your name and money behind the bar. Money must be paid by 25th February for all players and members to be registered for the coming season.

The Interview Room

This week we had James Ogundare as our Juvenile Interview and we had David Power for our Adult Interview. I’m looking for more people to take part, so if you’re interested please contact Savo ASAP. To see the lad’s answers and all the lads who have participated over the last number of months, get onto the website and look for the interview room or juvenile interview room under the news tab. www.mountsiongaa.ie . New Juvenile interviews are added every Tuesday and adult interviews are added on Thursdays.

Last Man Standing

There was no round of the Last Man Standing competition this week due to the F.A. Cup so it will return again this coming weekend. Make sure you have your team picked before Thursday night and sent to Tina. See our “The Last Man Standing” Page on the website under the news tab to catch up with the results!

Darts & Cards

Darts and Cards for club members. Come along and join in the fun. Darts takes place every Thursday night with Cards on Friday nights, both starting around 10pm. Great prizes on offer!! All Club Members are welcome.

Chess Club

Chess club takes place every Tuesday night in the club at 9:30pm. We hope to see the regular faces and some new ones up next Tuesday.
