Mount Sion Gaa Club Notes
Under 12
Round three of the City League went ahead as planned last Friday night, where we faced De La Salle in their Gracedieu venue. Playing with a slight breeze in the opening half Sion capitalised with the switching of Eoghan Power from his normal position of full back to full forward and this came just three minutes in when he banged home a goal from close range. Jordan Roche added a point from a free. De La Salle drew level on ten minutes when they quickly scored a goal and a point. Jordan Roche surely had his shooting boots on when he added two more points. De La Salle ran in another goal which only can be described as very soft. But Jack Meaney’s great strike off his left pointed and levelled things up at half time. Early in the second half Jack Meaney was taken down as he headed toward goal. From the resulting free Jordan’s attempt at goal sneaked over the De La Salle line to send Sion three points in front. Again Roche added two pointed frees. Luke O’Brien and Bill Wall were working tirelessly across the half backline keeping the De La Salle forward out, with the help of midfield pairing of Alan Kirwan and Charlie Costello. A dangerous ball across the De La Salle goal was finished to the net by substitute Conor Meaney! Roche added his final point to a total of one goal and six. A last minute point by De La Salle finished the game. Final score 3-7 to De La Salle 2-2Well done lads. Next up is Glenmore in Glenmore on 11th May.Busy Week Ahead
