Mount Sion Gaa Club Notes
Senior League
We made the long trip to Ballymacarbry last Sunday afternoon to face Fourmilewater in the third round of the Senior League. We hit the ground running and had three points on the board after three minutes. Two points from Richard Roche and a point from Jordan Broaders. Fourmilewater hit a point but a super point from Ian Power from a sideline cut cancelled their point out. The home side got things going with a goal and five points unanswered. Robert Bresnan ran through the opposition’s defence and struck to the back of the net and Jordan added another two points. Another three points from the home side kept them in front. Ian Power and Bresnan pointed but Fourmile had a two point lead at half time.
Fourmile hit the first point after the break. Niall O’Sullivan got the engine revved up and hit two quick points followed by a Michael Frisby point. Fourmilewater responded with two points and Robert Bresnan scooping his second goal with a great shot into the corner of the net. Gavin Carroll made up for his earlier misses and dissected the points. Sion hit a number of scores in quick succession with Roche, Carroll and O’Sullivan all pointing. Substitute Michael Power was fast into the action and showed some great stick work, as he battled past two defenders to raise a white flag. Final score: Cnoc Síon 2-18 to Fourmilewater 1-16. Well done lads. Three wins in as many weekends.
