Mount Sion GAA Club Notes
Dick Roche Under 9 Memorial Tournament
Last Saturday in glorious sunshine we held our inaugural Dick Roche Under 9 tournament in the club, with seven clubs from around the south east and ourselves competing a great day of Hurling was had by all the young lads, first up for Mount Sion was a match against Danesfort from Kilkenny where we ran out comfortable winners, next we faced Faythe Harriers from Wexford in an extremely tough game claiming a two point win . In the third match we faced an unbeaten Portlaw side where we showed great fighting spirit to win by eight points, we ended up topping a difficult group with three wins from three to qualify for the Dick Roche tournament final to face a serious outfit in Oulart the Ballagh of Wexford . In a close game with a very tight first half our young team just tired in the second half and were beaten. Well done to Oulart the Ballagh and all the other clubs who travelled down to us on the day. The management team would like to congratulate the boys on the fantastic effort they put in, special thanks to our sponsors Walsh’s take away on the Lower Yellow Road and thanks to the refs on the day along with the ladies committee for all their help with food etc .
