Mount Sion GAA Club Notes
Sargent Cup
Cnoc Sion 1-23
Ballygunner 2-16
The Seniors, unbeaten in the Sargent Cup this year made the journey out to Ballygunner on Friday night last hoping to keep up that good run, Paul Hammond made a welcome return to the ranks and proved his worth by getting the first score of the game after which Ballygunner then replied with points of their own before Shane Forristal made a great save but was unlucky to be beaten by the follow up, after this though Sion took control and with points coming from seven different players went into the break leading by 0-16 to 1-09 .Martin F O Neill opened the scoring in the second half followed by a point from Tony Browne who showed no signs of saving his energy for his Croke Park tour on Saturday morning ! Not to be outdone another veteran Eoin McGrath showed some great skill in setting up Richie Roche who made no mistake in putting the ball in the corner of the net, despite a late rally from Ballygunner Sion’s defence held up well with another top notch save from Forro and closed out the game with a few more points the most notable of which was an effort from Gavin Carroll after good work from Mark Hoban down the right, well done lads next match is the Semi Final which is pencilled in for next weekend, details to be confirmed during the week.Croke Park Tour
Saturday morning was a special one for our own Tony Browne as he took the Legends Tour of Croke Park, a most enjoyable time was had by GAA fans from all around the country and plenty of Deise exiles in the capital as Tony recounted many tales of his long and distinguished career for club and county.Cul Camps
The Kelloggs Cul Camps are in full swing all over the country at the moment and next week its our turn, these camps are always a great success for both boys and girls and places can be booked in advance on-line or with the club, please contact Peter Walsh or Michael Flanagan for details.Waterford Minors
