Mount Sion GAA Club Notes
Senior Hurling
Cnoc Sion 1-19
Dungarvan 4-14
The last game of the group stages took place in Walsh Park on Saturday and Sion were hoping to build on last week’s good result against Ardmore as we move forward to the knock-out stages in a few week’s time, unfortunately it wasn’t a good day at the office for the Monastery men as the Westerners were the better team on the night with the only positive point for Sion being the performance of Martin O Neill whose accuracy from frees and general all round play helped keep the scoreline at a respectable level, hopefully there’ll be big improvements all around the pitch in September as we take on Abbeyside in the Quarter Finals, time and date to be confirmed.Intermediate Hurling
Cnoc Sion 0-18
Butlerstown 1-15
The Intermediates played Butlerstown in Walsh Park on Friday night in a re-arranged fixture which both sides needed to win, Butlerstown got off to the perfect start with a goal from their first attack, following this though Sion kept plugging away with points from Gavin Carroll , Michael Power , Dermot O Byrne and Anthony Kirwan to leave the half time score at Cnoc Sion 0-11 Butlerstown 1-06, the second half was an even affair with only the minimum separating both sides until the final moments when it looked like Butlerstown were on their way to a victory before the impressive Carroll stepped up to point from a free with the last puck of the game to earn Sion a draw, this result now means we go into a play-off with Tramore, date and time to be confirmed.Junior Hurling
Cnoc Sion 3-17
De La Salle 1-05
On Thursday last the Juniors eased past De La Salle to secure their place in the knock-out stages, Minor stars Cian O Regan and Ferdia Mac Aogain impressed in the first half getting the lions share of the scores while in the second half Johnny Hayes got in on the act with a goal and two points with Jamie O Meara , Clive “Parish” Power and the returning Aaron Dempsey also notching before Mac Aogain capped off a good performance with his second goal, final score Cnoc Sion 3-17 De La Salle 1-05, well done lads, best of luck for the next match.Minor Hurling
Cnoc Sion 1-13
Roanmore 3-10
It was heartbreak on Monday night in Gracedieu for the Minors as they narrowly missed out on victory once again against Roanmore, Sion flew out of the blocks and built up an early lead from a number of different scorers and went into the break 1-09 to 1-05 ahead, in the second half Roanmore got back into the game but Sion still kept in touch with Eric Hoban getting all our scores before Roanmore sealed victory with a late goal, hard luck lads keep up the hard work and the results will start coming, next week sees three games in quick succession to finish up this years group gamesUnder 14s
The Under 14s have been going along quite nicely recently and have been building up a nice string of results, Monday night saw them make the long journey to St Olivers where they comfortably saw off the hosts, well done lads keep up the good work.Dartathon
