Mount Sion GAA Club Notes

Under 21 Hurling

After a long break the Under 21 Hurling Championship finally got underway on Saturday last against Roanmore in a  windy De La Salle Gracedieu, Roanmore got off the better start with a couple of points before Mikey Daykin got Sion’s first with a point from play, it was even from then on with Austin getting the bulk of Sion’s points from frees to leave the score at 10 points to 9 in Roanmore’s favour.

 In the second half it was a different story with Roanmore racing ahead with unanswered points to leave an insurmountable gap which Sion were unable to bridge and the game ended up 22 points to 12 in their favour, hard luck to our young team many of whom will be back playing at this grade next year.

Under 9s

Our Under 9s played Abbeyside on Saturday morning and it was a great performance from the lads against very tough opposition, stand out performances from Lee Flanagan , Davin Marshall , Dillon Ryan and Alex Walsh helped us to a 4 – 5 – 3 – 1 win . The panel for the day was Jack Barrett, Shane Ryan,  Alex Walsh, Dillon Ryan, Jared O”Keeffe, Conor Walsh, Davin Marshall, Lee Flanagan, Killian Dundon, Adam Regan, Jake Marks, Adam Cummins, Ross Byrne  and  Cameron O’Neill

Winning Streak

Congratulations to Anne Hammond who appeared on the TV game show Winning Streak on Saturday last and did very well indeed by getting to spin the wheel ! Well done Anne and thanks for giving the club a mention in your chat with Marty !

Club Gear

Those looking to get club gear for Christmas, please get in contact with Savo ASAP. Last orders by this coming Friday. October 31st  Half Zip Tops, T-Shirts, Pants for adults and kids. Initials included. This will be your last chance to get them as we won’t be able to guarantee orders delivered before Christmas after this date.

Strictly Gone Dancing

Just two weeks to go before the big event in the Tower Hotel and our twinkle toes are putting the finishing touches to their dances for the night , keep an eye on twitter and facebook for further details !

Last Man Standing

Its starting  to come down to the wire with more fallers again this week , check out the updated table on the website to see who’s left !

Deise Draw

This month’s Deise Draw takes place in the club on Friday night and hopefully we’ll have a bit of luck with a winner or two !Tickets are still available for the next draws from Josie Evans or from the bar. Please contact Josie Evans (087-0686700) to join and more importantly to make sure you are in with a chance to scoop the top prize of €10,000!!! . Tickets are €10 per month for nine months. You can either pay up front or per month by leaving the money behind the bar. 70% of the money raised will go directly back to Mount Sion. Best of luck to all our ticketholders!

Darts and Cards for club members. Come along and join in the fun. Darts takes place every Thursday night with Cards on Friday nights, both starting around 10pm. Great prizes on offer!! All Club Members are welcome.
