Mount Sion GAA Club Notes
Under 15 Eastern Final
Following on from last week’s Under 16 final against De La Salle in Walsh Park it was a return to the that venue against the same opposition on Saturday last for the Under 15 final with many of the same players lining out again for both sides, Sion got off to the better start with the ever reliable Johnny Flynn once more knocking over the points before in-form forward Evan McGrath raised the green flag with the first goal of the game, De La Salle responded well and were putting on pressure on the Sion backs who were ably marshalled by Conor Quinn before they finally got through with a goal of their own, Sion played out the rest of the half well creating the better chances with Jack Meaney scoring a peach of a point to go into the break ahead by the minimum of 1-05 to 1-04,The second half was more of the same with Johnny Flynn once more deadly accurate with points from frees, De La Salle though broke Sion’s hearts with two goals in a row from their big forwards and even though the lads never gave up they just couldn’t reduce the scoreline and the game ended up 3-08 to 1-10 in De La Salle’s favour, hard luck lads but on the basis of these last two games this is a very good group of players who are improving all the time.Christmas Raffle
