Mount Sion GAA Club Notes

Under 11’s

The Under 11’s had two games this week in the City League, they got their campaign off to a winning start against De La Salle on Monday night while on Friday they played Ballygunner in the club who proved too strong for them on the night, well done to the boys and keep up the good work for the next matches.

Golf Classic

The Mount Sion Golf Classic takes place on Friday May 29th with tee off from 9.30am in Waterford Golf Club, so spread the word if you play golf or if you know any budding Rory McIllroys who can get three players to make up a team on the day, cost is very reasonable at 90 euros a team with a meal, please see the poster for more details.

National Hurling League

What a great win on Sunday for the Waterford Hurlers as they never gave up and came back to beat Tipperary to reach their first National League final since 2007 against Cork in two weeks time in what promises to be a cracker , well done to all the lads and to our own players involved.

Sporting Legend

This week’s Sporting legend interview on WLR FM is Mount Sion and Waterford stalwart Jim Greene who will talk to Matt Keane for an hour about his career for club and county, while we doubt an hour is long enough for Greener to talk about his career it still promises to be very entertaining with many never before heard anecdotes being told! The programme airs at 6pm on Wednesday 22nd of April and will be available for podcast soon after in case anyone missed it first time around.

Membership

Membership is now overdue so if you have not done so yet please leave the money behind the bar or contact club registrar Paul Fanning, all rates can be found on the membership page of the website.

Deise Draw

The 2015 Deise draw is now up and running and tickets for the next draws are still available. Tickets cost €10 a month with the club keeping 70% of the tickets sold. I.e. €7 a ticket.This year we are delighted to announce that Elverys Sports are the Offical Retail Partner to Waterford GAA. A 15% Discount Voucher will be available, on request through the club, to all members of the Déise Draw. Please leave money and names at bar or contact draw co-ordinator Josie Evans if you’d like to support our biggest yearly fundraiser.

Our club house is the perfect venue for your needs, if you have a family event coming up we can cater for all size parties from small private events to large gatherings, we have a spacious function room with private bar available for hire for all occasions including Birthdays, Christenings, Weddings, Confirmations, Communions, etc, please contact our Bar Manager Michael Ryan for more information on 051-372648 or call up and see him

For a post match drink or chat or to watch the latest sporting event on the big screen we have all the Sports channels available in our spacious bar where on Thursday nights it’s Darts night and on Fridays we have cards which are open to all and there are great prizes on offer, check out our website for more info and photos.
