Mount Sion GAA Club Notes
Intermediate Football
The Intermediate Football Championship started on Sunday morning last in Kill against highly fancied Dunhill, with a depleted team Sion worked hard and there were some good passages of play during the game with Ian Galgey and Michael Frisby being the main threat in attack but it wasn’t enough to stop the well drilled Anne Valley men who took their chances well to finish out the game on a scoreline of 1-17 to 0-05, tough luck lads there are still two more games left in this group to change things around.Under 11’s
It was a busy week for the Under 11’s with the City league on Friday evening against Ballygunner in McGinn Park where they were unlucky to lose by a couple of goals to the home side, the following morning they travelled to Kildare to take part in the annual Celbridge tournament, Sion put in good performances against the hosts and Carrick On Shannon to reach the semi final where they came up against a very strong Bride Rovers side and were unfortunate to come out on the losing side, next game is on Monday night against Tramore in the club.Puc Fada
It was a night for the big hitters in Mahon Falls on Monday last as the annual Puc Fada took place, Sion were represented by Owen Sauvage and as anyone who was ever on the receiving end of some of his pucks can attest that man knows how to hit them! Well done to Savo who was the outright winner and now goes on to represent his county in the finals in the Glen of Aherlow next weekend!Under 16’s
Special thanks to Alex Lushkaj of Walsh’s takeaway on the Yellow Road who has kindly sponsored the new jerseys for the Under 16’s this year, pictured is Alex presenting Under 16 captain Johnny Flynn with the jerseys also included is team selector Ian Power.Deise Draw
