Mount Sion GAA Club Notes

Minor Hurling

The Minors took on Roanmore in the club on Tuesday night last knowing that a win was necessary if they were to make any progress at this level, Roanmore started stronger going three points ahead before Mikey Daykin started showing the form that has seen him burst onto the senior team this year knocking over points and making the breakthrough with Sion’s first goal , Ben Flanagan and Evan McGrath also contributed points to put Sion two points ahead going into the break 1-09 to 1-07 .The second half was more of the same with the visitors starting strongly and threatening to build up a lead before the game swung in Sion’s favour once more with four points in a row from Daykin, Andy Doherty and James Ogundare to finish out the game strongly to gain their first victory of the campaign on a score of 1-17 to 1-13, well done lads lets keep up the momentum for the game against Clonea on Thursday night.

Under 13’s

It was another good result for the Under 13’s as they beat De La Salle in the club on Thursday last on a scoreline of 2-11 to 1-06, well done lads keep up the good work !

Senior Hurling

Following Waterford’s exit in the All Ireland semi final last week the County Board have arranged the final two games in the Senior Championship group stages, Sion will face Passage in Kill on Saturday 29th August at 6.30pm and then Lismore on Sunday 13th September at 3.30pm in Fraher Field.

Deise Draw

August’s Deise Draw takes place at the end of the month . Tickets cost €10 a month with the club keeping 70% of the tickets sold. I.e. €7 a ticket.This year we are delighted to announce that Elverys Sports are the Offical Retail Partner to Waterford GAA. A 15% Discount Voucher will be available, on request through the club, to all members of the Déise Draw. Please leave money and names at bar or contact draw co-ordinator Josie Evans if you’d like to support our biggest yearly fundraiser.

Tesco Tokens

The promotion continues for the next few weeks in Tesco’s draw in their stores where people are given a blue token with every shop and they put that token in the box. If Mount Sion gets the most blue tokens they get the biggest cash amount, second place gets second cash prize and third gets third place cash prize etc. This promotion is running in Tesco Lisduggan at Waterford Shopping centre and started Monday 3rd August and runs for six weeks, so tell all your family and friends and spread the word that just by putting the token in the Mount Sion box they are helping the club! Thanks once again to Roisin for entering us in the draw.
