Mount Sion GAA Club Notes
Intermediate Hurling
Following an indifferent campaign the Intermediates found themselves facing Tramore once again in a play off to stay playing at this grade for 2016, Walsh park was the venue for the showdown on Saturday night and Sion got off to the perfect start with Cian O Regan and Anthony Kirwan both getting 1-01 in the first ten minutes blitzing the shell shocked Seasiders goal, with good work from the returning Ferdia and Michael “Pugs” Power in midfield also chipping in Sion were well in control in the first half sending over the points before Ben Flanagan picked up the ball and found Anthony Kirwan with a perfect pass from which the veteran made no mistake to raise the green flag for the third time, score at half time 3-05 to 0-06 in Sion’s favour. After the break Sion were the dominant team with the excellent O Regan and the ever reliable Dermot O Byrne notching points with contributions from Evan Curran and Michael Frisby , a solid defence marshalled by Peter Penkert and Craig Sauvage soaked up any pressure from the opposition who were reduced to long range efforts leaving the result in doubt well before the whistle sounded, final score Cnoc Sion 3-17 Tramore 0-09, well done lads here’s looking forward to a better 2016.Minor Hurling
Following on from their victory against Roanmore the previous week the Minors were hoping to keep the momentum going against Clonea in the club on Thursday last, the visitors opted to play with the strong breeze in the first half and took a commanding lead going into the break which Sion despite all their best efforts couldn’t manage to pull back and the game ended up 4-18 to 2-07 in Clonea’s favour, next game is against Tramore in Tramore on September 3rd.Tony Forristal Tournament
