Mount Sion GAA Club Notes

County Champions

What a week it was for our Under 14’s as they finished off a long year in style winning both the Eastern and County Championships in the space of five days, first off on Monday night they faced Clonea in Walsh Park, the lads got off to a flying start and went into the break with a commanding 3-07 to 0-03 lead, in the second half they scored six more points to finish out the game on a scoreline of 3-13 to 1-04 leading to great celebrations at the final whistle, it was back to the same venue on Saturday as they took on Brickey Rangers in the County Final.

Sion once more got off to a good start and with great performances all through the team from goalie to forwards showed the determination and commitment that has been their hallmark all year and deservedly ended the match on a winning scoreline of 2-09 to 0-08, well done to all involved, the coaches, parents and everyone who helped out over the year with this great bunch of lads who have been fantastic  ambassadors for our club in 2015.

Condolences

The club wishes to extend deepest sympathy to the family, friends and club mates of the late Paul Foley following his sudden passing during the week, ar Dheis De go Raibh a anam.

All Star Nominations

The All Star nominations came out this week and after Waterford’s good year there are a number of Deise nominees including our own Austin Gleeson, best of luck to Austin and all the rest of the Waterford lads.

New Year’s Eve Gala

The booking is now open for the New Years Eve gala. Tickets are €35 which includes meal, band (No Hot Ashes) and disco. Tables of 8 people and we urge you to book now with deposit to secure table. Bookings are on a first come first serve basis and can be taken at the bar.

 

 

Clothes Recycling

Wednesday is the final day for the Clothes Recycling Fundraiser for our Juvenile Club. We would be most grateful for your support. Items can be given to any of the Coaches at training or handed in to the staff at our Clubhouse. The list of accepted items is below, along with a list of items not suitable. The Clubhouse phone number is 051 372648.

Last Man Standing

Things are moving along well in the first Last Man Standing of the 2015/2016 season with plenty of players dropping out already, check out all the updated teams on the page on the website.

Deise Draw

September’s Deise Draw took place last week and unfortunately we had no winners. Tickets cost €10 a month with the club keeping 70% of the tickets sold. I.e. €7 a ticket.This year we are delighted to announce that Elverys Sports are the Offical Retail Partner to Waterford GAA. A 15% Discount Voucher will be available, on request through the club, to all members of the Déise Draw. Please leave money and names at bar or contact draw co-ordinator Josie Evans if you’d like to support our biggest yearly fundraiser.
