Mount Sion GAA Club Notes

Under 16’s

Our Under 16’s faced Dungarvan in the County Semi Final on Sunday morning in the club, the first half was a tight affair with both sides trading points in a physical battle, scores were well spread out from Sion with Charlie Costello, Johnny Flynn, Jack Meaney, Ivan Sinnott and Evan McGrath on free taking duties the sides went into the break level on seven points apiece.

The second half began in the same vein with McGrath once again pointing from frees but the men from the Old Borough were just as determined to stay in the game and it took some hard work from the forwards to let in the vigilant Alan Kirwan who gratefully shot to the back of the net to get Sion’s first goal and crucially put some daylight between the teams, Dungarvan tried to get back into the game but the Sion defence superbly led by Conor Quinn held firm and  finished out the game on a scoreline of 1-14 to 0-10, well done lads on a great performance and best of luck in the final on Saturday against De La Salle.

Under 10’s

This young group must be the best travelled of Cnoc Sion’s teams as this Sunday they were on the road again all the way to Dublin where they were invited to take part in the prestigious Kilmacud Crokes tournament, it was another great day as they went on to win the shield final against JK Bracken of Tipperary, well done lads you’re a credit to your families and club !

 

Wedding Bells

Congratulations to Fionn O’Brien and Maura who got hitched on Friday last and also to Tony Browne and Lisa Sammon who tied the knot on Saturday last, best wishes from everyone in the club!

New Year’s Eve Gala

The booking is now open for the New Years Eve gala. Tickets are €35 which includes meal, band (No Hot Ashes) and disco. Tables of 8 people and we urge you to book now with deposit to secure table. Bookings are on a first come first serve basis and can be taken at the bar.

Clothes Recycling

Thanks to everyone who helped out with this fundraiser for the Juvenile club which finished last week

Last Man Standing

No Last Man Standing this week due to the International break but it returns this week, don’t forget to get your teams into Tina by Thursday.

Deise Draw

Just a couple of more Deise Draws to go this year. Tickets cost €10 a month with the club keeping 70% of the tickets sold. I.e. €7 a ticket.This year we are delighted to announce that Elverys Sports are the Offical Retail Partner to Waterford GAA. A 15% Discount Voucher will be available, on request through the club, to all members of the Déise Draw. Please leave money and names at bar or contact draw co-ordinator Josie Evans if you’d like to support our biggest yearly fundraiser.
