Mount Sion GAA Club Notes

Under 15’s

The Under i5’s were busy this week with two games in the space of three days as they sought to emulate the heroics of the Under 16’s the previous week, first game was against De La Salle in Gracedieu who went into a strong lead in the first half which even though Sion did come back into it in the second half they were unable to retrieve the deficit and the men in red and white ran out winners.

Sunday morning saw Ballygunner visit Pairc O Fainin, the Gunners got off to the perfect start with two goals but Sion fought their way back into the game with points from Jordan Roche and a monster free from keeper Bill Wall helping to make it a one point game at half time, in the second half the visitors upped gears which proved too much for the Sion lads as they finished up on the wrong end of the result again, tough luck lads best of luck in the next game.

Stars in their Eyes

Put this in the diary, Mount Sion proudly present “Stars in their Eyes” in the centre on November 28th, see familiar (and not so familiar) faces as they take to the stage to live out their dreams as their favourite singers,from Croke Park to Croak Park you decide but one thing’s for sure this promises to be a great night and not to be missed, tickets priced at 5 euro are available behind the bar.

Club Mass

The annual Club mass takes place this year on Thursday November 5th at 7pm in the Mount Sion Chapel on Barrack Street, this is a long running tradition in the club and we would ask for as many members and families to attend as possible.

Deise Draw

October’s Deise Draw takes place in Cappoquin on Friday night, if you pay monthly could you please leave your money behind the bar or contact Josie.Tickets cost €10 a month with the club keeping 70% of the tickets sold. I.e. €7 a ticket.This year we are delighted to announce that Elverys Sports are the Offical Retail Partner to Waterford GAA. A 15% Discount Voucher will be available, on request through the club, to all members of the Déise Draw. Please leave money and names at bar or contact draw co-ordinator Josie Evans if you’d like to support our biggest yearly fundraiser.

New Year’s Eve Gala

The booking is now open for the New Years Eve gala. Tickets are €35 which includes meal, band (No Hot Ashes) and disco. Tables of 8 people and we urge you to book now with deposit to secure table. Bookings are on a first come first serve basis and can be taken at the bar.

Last Man Standing

Last Man Standing returned this week and the updated table can be checked out on the page on the website, don’t forget to get your teams into Tina by Thursday.

Condolences

Mount Sion GAA Club wishes to extend deepest sympathies to the family, friends and the Erin’s Own club on the sad passing of Adam O Connor during the week, ar Dheis De go raibh a anam.
