Mount Sion GAA Club Notes
Under 21 Championship
The Under 21’s took on Clonea in a wet and windy Kill on Sunday last looking to book their place in the Eastern final, playing with the breeze in the first half Sion had the better of the exchanges with points coming from a number of different players before Ferdia came close to getting the first goal of the game but his shot just went wide of the post, just before the break Darren Finn broke through and his shot just flashed past the post and wide before Ferdia knocked over a point to put four between the teams, half time score Cnoc Sion 0-9 Clonea 0-05 .Clonea got off to the perfect start in the second half when aided by the wind a huge puck out went over the half back line and their forward rushed through to raise the first green flag of the game, Sion replied in the perfect fashion with a Gleeson point before Sean Colfer pulled on the ball after an Evan Curran free which went over the bar, both sides traded points from then on and in an exciting finish the game ended tied on 0-15 to 1-12 to go to extra time, Sion upped a gear in extra time with Cian O Regan going close before substitute Andy Doherty ran on to a breaking ball on the 21 and made no mistake sending the ball to the back of the net to finally put light between the teams, Stephen Power on goal made a great stop to deny Clonea and with Colfer and Curran pointing Sion ran out winners on a scoreline of 1-17 to 1-13, well done lads great result in difficult conditions and best of luck in the final details of which will be posted when available.
