Mount Sion GAA Club Notes

Club A.G.M.

The club held it’s Annual General Meeting on Sunday last in the centre and as usual it was very well attended from the youngest to the oldest members showing great interest in the various reports and motions, best wishes to Owen Sauvage, Kevin Ryan and Paul Fanning who are stepping down from their executive positions after many years of invaluable work for the club, there’s no change in the management of the Adult teams with John Meaney taking over the helm with the Minors, Stephen O Neill is new Senior captain and he will be ably assisted by Pat Kelly in the Vice Captain position. Player of the Year awards were also presented on the day and they were as follows,

Senior – Martin F O Neill

Intermediate –  Cian O Regan

Junior – Brian “Ned” Power

Young Player – Mikey Daykin

Footballer – Craig Sauvage

Well done to all involved and best of luck to our new Secretary Benny Brannigan and Vice Chairman Seamie Cleere and also to Paul Galgey who as well as taking on the Football managers role was also voted onto the Executive .

Juvenile Presentation

It was a most enjoyable occasion on Saturday last as our Juvenile club up to Under 12 held their Award ceremony, it was great to see such a turnout from both players and their parents as the boys and girls received their medals from all the various tournaments over the year, well done to Jamie Meaney and Cian Purcell who were the Under 11 and 12 Players of the Year respectively, there were also plaques on the day for our Under 12 players who took part in the Waterford Development panels during the year, thanks to our Senior players  who took the time out to come up and give out medals on the day also.

 

Christmas Raffle and Club Draw

By now everyone will have received their tickets for the Christmas Raffle which takes place on 20th December in the club and we would hope they’ll all come back sold ! On the night also the club will be running a draw for Deise Draw members with guaranteed Mount Sion winners. Entry is ten euro with half of the amount collected going back in prize money. If you’ve paid in full for nine Deise Draws you’ll be automatically put into this draw. Those who are members of the Deise Draw for four draws or more can purchase a ticket for this draw. Thanks to all those who supported the fundraiser during the year and to Josie for all her hard work organising it for us.

New Year’s Eve Gala Night

The New Year’s Gala night is fast approaching and if you have booked tickets please could you make sure they’re paid for by the 16th December, any enquiries about the night can be made behind the bar.

Last Man Standing

There’s no separating the last four players in this year’s Last Man Standing and at this rate we could run out of teams soon.Check out the updated table on the website and don’t forget to have your team into Tina before Thursday.

Get Well Soon

Get Well Soon to Paul Meaney who is laid low at the moment, Paul is well known in the club and coaches some of our younger players who send all their best wishes.

Fixture

Our Under 21 Eastern final was a victim of the weather last weekend but hopefully it will be played next Saturday, keep an eye on social media and the usual outlets for the details when they become available.

Mount Sion Clubhouse

Our club house is the perfect venue for your needs, if you have a family event coming up we can cater for all size parties from small private events to large gatherings, we have a spacious function room with private bar available for hire for all occasions including Birthdays, Christenings, Weddings, Confirmations, Communions, etc, please contact our Bar Manager Michael Ryan for more information on 051-372648 or call up and see him

For a post match drink or chat or to watch the latest sporting event on the big screen we have all the Sports channels available in our spacious bar where on Thursday nights it’s Darts night and on Fridays we have cards which are open to all and there are great prizes on offer, check out our website for more info and photos.
