Mount Sion GAA Club Notes
Junior Hurling Championship
Mount Sion 0-15
De La Salle 2-09
The Junior Hurling Championship got underway on Friday night last with the lads making the short trip to Gracedieu to take on De La Salle, the hosts got off to the better start bagging two goals early on and despite losing the experienced Trigger through injury Sion plugged away and with points coming from Michael Frisby frees and young guns Lee Halligan , Kaylem Kennedy and Brian Hammond there were only two points between the teams at the break 2-04 to 0-08 in De La Salle’s favour. Sion had the better of the exchanges in the second half with Darren Finn and Frisby bagging the points the pick of which was scored by Finny following a puck out by the evergreen Owen Sauvage in goal who was unfortunate with his long range frees during this half, DLS looked like they were going to steal it at the death but Frisby drew on his many years of experience levelling things just as the ref blew up to earn a hard fought draw, final score Cnoc Sion 0-15 De La Salle 2-09, next game is on Friday in the club against Clonea.Under 12’s
The Under 12’s played two games this week in the City league against local rivals De La Salle and Roanmore, narrowly losing out to DLS on Wednesday they battled back against Roanmore on Friday to earn a draw, they now have a week’s break for the Under 11 City League where the boys make the trip to Ballygunner on Friday night hoping to make it three in a row.Condolences
