The John West 2016 Feile Na Gael took place over the weekend in Waterford and Tipperary and Mount Sion were a host club welcoming Whitechurch from Cork, Sion played their group matches in the club grounds with Buffer’s Alley from Wexford and Dungarvan providing the opposition on Friday, the lads eased past the Wexford team but Dungarvan were a strong side who won out in the end, Saturday saw us beat Whitechurch in the club which meant we had a home quarter final in the Shield against Cahir, another good win saw us make the trip to Carrick to take on the Swans which despite being the third game of the day the lads won well to see them into the final on Sunday morning against Ballinkillen from Carlow.
A wet and windy Carriganore was the venue and in front of a big crowd Sion got off to the perfect start with three goals on the trot to go into the break 3-03 to 0-04 ahead, to their credit Ballinkillen never gave up in the second half and the cruellest blow came just as the game looked to be heading into extra time they got the winning point to break Sion’s hearts, tough luck to the lads but they did their families and their club proud over the weekend, thanks to everyone who helped out over the weekend to make sure everything ran smoothly.
Junior Football
With the Junior football about to start up again soon the manager would like to remind all players that mouthguards are mandatory and are the responsibility of the players to make sure they have them.
Deise Draw
June’s Deise Draw takes place in Flynn’s Bar Ferrybank on Friday the 24th., will those who pay monthly please leave their money behind the bar by Wednesday or else contact Josie. This is one of the main fundraisers for the club and we would encourage as many members and their families as possible to participate, as well as helping your club you are also in a great draw with many good prizes on offer. Kits For Kids
The club are once more delighted to team up with Caulfield’s Supervalu Hypercentre to try and get training equipment for our Juvenile players. As valued club members we ask you to support this initiate to ensure our club reaches it’s target of 200 tokens before July 13th. Everytime you shop in Caulfield’s Supervalu Hypermarket and spend over €40 using your Real Rewards card you will receive a voucher which you can then donate to the club using the in-store collection box, also running on our Facebook page if we get enough likes and shares we will receive more vouchers so get liking and sharing ! Mount Sion Clubhouse
