Mount Sion GAA Club Notes
Kellogg’s Cul Camps
The Kellogg’s Cul Camps get underway tomorrow (Monday) 24th July in Mount Sion, even if you haven’t pre-registered your child online you can still bring them along on the morning to register, with special guests and activities this promises as always to be a great week for both boys and girls.Junior Hurling
The form team in the club at the moment have to be our Juniors who went onto Friday night’s game against Passage on the back of some high scoring victories seeing off the challenge of the men from the fishing village on a scoreline of 5-19 to 0-11, the mix of youth and experience was once again to the fore in this game as veteran Dan Kelly and young gun Kaylem Kennedy stood out for Sion on the night, no game this week as football takes centre stage but no doubt Pappy’s charges will be rearing to go in their next game in a few weeks.Minor Hurling
Round One of the Minor Hurling championship took place in the club on Wednesday night with Clonea providing the opposition, the first half was saw both defences on top before Clonea finally broke through to get the first goal of the game, a fine double save from Eoghan Browne kept Sion right in the game at the break with the score at 1-10 to 0-09 in the visitors favour. The second half was once again a tight affair and with Evan McGrath on top form as Sion’s top scorer from frees the game could have gone either way, Clonea however were a tough nut to crack and as the game wore on just got their noses in front and held on to win by the single goal 1-16 to 0-16, next game is against Dungarvan in early August.Juvenile Hurling
It’s a busy time of the year for our young hurlers who are all playing various City Leagues and Championships , this week alone our Under 11’s , 13’s and 15’s played Ballygunner and though the results might not have gone their way these young lads are improving all the time, special thanks from the Under 15 mentors go out to Eddie Fitzgerald of Passage who stood in as referee on Saturday at short notice in the Ballygunner game.E.G.M.
An EGM will take place in the Club on Tuesday 26 July at 6.30pm to elect a new Club Trustee to replace the late Seamus Power. This is an important process and we would ask as many members as possible to attend.
