Mount Sion GAA Club Notes
Senior Hurling Championship
Cnoc Sion 0-23
De La Salle 1-14
Following last week’s thrilling draw in the Senior Championship Quarter Final it was back to Walsh Park again on Sunday to take on De La Salle for a place in the semis next weekend, from the start Sion were focussed and within the first three minutes had three points on the board courtesy of Jordan Broaders, Austin Gleeson and Martin F O’Neill, with goal chances from Stephen Roche and Evan Curran Sion were going well until Salle dealt a hammer blow when John Mullane showing flashes of his old brilliance netted just before half time to give them the lead by the slenderest of margins , half time score Cnoc Sion 0-09 De La Salle 1-07. Sion upped gears on the restart and playing with an intensity the Cleaboy men couldn’t match drove on and though there were no goals there were plenty of points, with superb displays all round the pitch this game was never in doubt and Sion ran out six point winners to book a place in the semi finals next weekend against title favourites Ballygunner, well done to all involved and let’s hope that this level of commitment can be brought to the next game against another strong side. Scorers Martin F’ONeill 0-11, Austin Gleeson 0-04, Stephen Roche 0-03, Jordan Broaders 0-01, Mark Hoban 0-01, Sean Ryan 0-01, Owen Whelan 0-01, John Dee 0-01.All Star Nominations
