Mount Sion GAA Club Notes

WLR FM Granville Hotel GAA Award

Congratulations to Austin Gleeson who has won the overall WLR FM Granville Hotel GAA Award for 2016. Austin played a major part in Waterford’s league and championship campaign, also helping the club get into the County semi final, he was also part of the Waterford team that beat Galway in All-Ireland U21 hurling final in September.To top off a great year Austin won the treble at the All Stars, All Star, Young Hurler of the Year and Hurler of the Year, congratulations from everyone in Mount Sion and all the best for 2017 with club and county.

Stewards Course

CLG Port Láirge are holding a Course for voluntary stewards to assist with major games in Waterford to ensure that there is a quality level of stewarding at all venues. Stewards may be called occasionally to work at some of the major Munster venues.

Conditions: -  over18.  Available to steward at weekends (average of 10 – 12 events annually – on a rota basis, fit and active, friendly, courteous, enthusiastic.

Stewards will be trained and accredited by the GAA National Health & Safety Committee and the course is monitored by the Portobello Institute who will be present.

Course Details: –

  •   Venue Lawlor’s Hotel Dungarvan
  •   6.00 pm to 9.00 pm on Friday 3rd March, 2017
  •   9.00 pm to 12.00 pm on Saturday 4th March, 2017

Membership

It’s that time of year again when membership comes up for renewal, as a club we are very competitive with our rates and would ask all our members to make the effort to pay as soon as they can, rates can be found on the membership page on the website.

Darts League

The Mount Sion Darts league returns for 2017 on Thursday February 23rd , as in 2016 this will be run on a league basis with a finals night taking place in the summer, all proceeds go to the Juvenile club, anyone interested in taking part can contact organiser Kenny Stafford on 087 6161222.

Mount Sion Clubhouse

Our club house is the perfect venue for all  your needs, only recently it made it into a list of the ten most unusual places in Ireland to have your wedding ! If you have a family event coming up we can cater for all size parties from small private events to large gatherings, we have a spacious function room with private bar available for hire for all occasions including Birthdays, Christenings, Weddings, Confirmations, Communions, etc, please contact our Bar Manager Michael Ryan for more information on 051-372648 or call up and see him

For a post match drink or chat or to watch the latest sporting event on the big screen we have all the Sports channels available in our spacious bar where on Thursday nights it’s Darts night , on Fridays we have cards which are open to all and there are great prizes on offer, check out our website for more info and photos.
