Mount Sion GAA Club Notes
Senior Hurling Championship
Cnoc Sion 0-18
Roanmore 0-08
The second round of the Senior Championship took place on Sunday last against neighbours and rivals Roanmore and Sion needed to get their campaign back on track following the previous week’s defeat against Fourmilewater, Sion showed their intent from the off in the first half and when Roanmore went down to fourteen men early on the game opened up for them with Austin Gleeson and Stephen Roche taking advantage of the space to tip away at the points, with Ross O’Keeffe also dangerous down the right side notching a couple of scores Sion took a six point lead into the break, half time score Cnoc Sion 0-10 Roanmore 0-04, Sion continued with the work rate and committment in the second half and even though they were down to thirteen men following the dismissals of O’Keeffe and Gleeson for second bookable offences they were well on top in all areas of the pitch and while it may not have been as fiery a derby as in recent years they got the job done and finished out the game with a ten point winning margin, final score Cnoc Sion 0-18 Roanmore 0-08.
