Mount Sion GAA Club Notes
Under 9’s & 10’sIt was a busy week for our young players and their coaches with the Under-10 team playing Roanmore in a great game on Tuesday last showing great improvements all around the pitch. On Saturday morning last the U-9s took part in the Fourmilewater blitz and came away worthy winners beating St Marys Clonmel, Fourmile and St Carthages in the process causing great excitement on the sidelines, well done boys on representing your club and your families so well. The u-8/9/10s will be taking a break for the next few weeksand will re-commence training in Mid August.
Minor FootballOur Minor footballers are doing the club proud at the moment as they reached the County final on Tuesday night with a hard fought victory over County kingpins The Nire in Fraher Field on a scoreline of 3-08 to 1-05, the County final is scheduled to take in the next week or so, details will be posted on social as soon as they become available.
Under 14’s & 15’sThe Under 14 Championship continued on Monday last against De La Salle and in a tight game the sides couldn’t be seperated and the game ended up all square on a scoreline of 2-08 to 3-05, on Sunday morning last the Under 15’s had a comprehensive victory over Passage to get their Championship back to winning ways.
Darts LeagueFollowing on their previous week’s heroics our darts team went up against the Grattan A team which included two county players and though our lads led 5-2 at one stage the experienced players stepped up to the oche and finished strongly on a 7-5 score, well done to the lads who gave a very good account of themselves in their first year.
Paddy Sheridan TournamentOn Saturday we are holding the inaugural Paddy Sheridan Under 11 tournament in the club, the first games throw in at 10.30. Every player in the club would have started with Paddy over the years and this is a lovely way to pay respect to a true gentleman of the club, looking forward to seeing a big turnout on the day for Paddy.
Tony Forristal SquadA big well done to Dylan Butler and Adam O’Connor for making the Tony Forristal squad for 2017 carrying on a proud tradition in the club, also to Sean Doocey on making the Sonny Walsh squad. Huge congrats to all three of our lads.
