Mount Sion GAA Club Notes
Cul Camps
This year’s Cul camps start tomorrow (Monday) morning in the club and with good weather forecast there promises to be a great week in store, online booking is now closed but registrations can still be made with Peter on the first morning.Ladies Football
Our Ladies Footballers play their first championship game of the year in the club on Monday 24th July against Na Deise at 7-30, with football enjoying somewhat of a revival in the club at the moment a good support for the girls would be much appreciated.Junior A Hurling Championship
Our Junior A Hurlers returned to action on Saturday night last against Passage in Walsh Park and though the game was tight in the first half with a three point lead on a score of 11 to 8 Pappy left the lads off the leash in the second with goals from Sean Ryan, Ian Galgey, Gavin Carroll and Dermot O’ Byrne proving the difference between the sides, final score Cnoc Sion 4-16 Passage 1-15, good performancs on the night from Craig Sauvage, Barry Ryan, Eddie Cullen, Gavin Carroll and Ben Sinnott.Paddy Sheridan Tournament
A fine day of Juvenile hurling was had in the club on Saturday last as an Under 11 tournament in honour of Paddy Sheridan was held with teams from around the region participating, Cnoc Sion ended up in the Shield final against Ballyduff Upper and in a great comeback from four down at half time to win it by three and lift the Shield, well done to Thomastown who were the overall winners, thanks to St Martins, Thomastown, Mooncoin, Piltown and Ballyduff Upeer who travelled to take part, it was a fitting tribute to a great hurling man and the esteem in which Paddy is held was shown by the large crowd on the day many of whom played their formative years of hurling with Paddy as he tirelessly worked with the club juveniles over the years. All Ireland Quarter Final
It’s another visit to Croke Park for the Waterford Senior Hurlers as they overcame Wexford on Sunday last to book their place in this All Ireland semi final, well done to all involved especially our Mount Sion lads on the panel and back room team.Minor Hurling & Football
