Mount Sion GAA Club Notes
Senior League
Cnoc Sion 1-15
Abbeyside 2-17
Following the recent bad weather the first Senior league game of the season finally took place on Saturday last against Abbeyside in the Gold Coast Resort, on a good day for hurling the home team were on the front foot from the start making the better of the chances that came their way going into the break with a two goal cushion, leadership from the more experienced players in the second half helped keep this young team in touch, many of whom were making their competitive debut at Senior level, and while a good goal from John Kennedy brought Sion back into it Abbeyside held on to their lead to finish out the game on a five point margin, final score Cnoc Sion 1-15 Abbeyside 2-17, mature performances all round and though the result might not have gone the right way there were many positives that the management can take away from this going into next week’s Championship match. Scorers Martin F O’Neill 0-11, John Kennedy 1-00, Ben Sinnott 0-01, Stephen Roche 0-01, Charlie Costello 0-01, Aaron Dempsey 0-01.
Under 16 Football
Our Under 16’s hosted Clashmore/Kinsalebeg on Sunday morning last and though this is quite a young team they tore into the opposition from the off and three goals from Dylan Butler early on put them in the driving seat, the sion defence held firm against a second half resurgence before two more goals killed off the game for Sion, great result all round with top class performances in every area of the pitch, next game is in two weeks.Stars in their Eyes
