Mount Sion GAA Club Notes
Junior Hurling
Cnoc Sion 3-15
Tramore 3-08
With the Junior B’s unfortunately left kicking their heels on Thursday night following the postponement of their game against Portlaw it was up to the Junior A’s on Friday to get the season underway as they made the journey out to Dunhill to face Tramore, Sion got off to the worst possible start conceding early goals and generally looking out of sorts as the Seasiders went into the break 5 points to the good, a different attitude was evident from the start of the second half and with goals from a Cian O’Regan penalty and Stephen “Chucky” Coady Sion were soon on top as the Tramore challenge faded and ran out comfortable winners on a scoreline of 3-15 to 3-08, unfortunately Craig Sauvage sustained a concussion injury during the game and is now sidelined for a number of weeks and our best wishes go out to Craig and hopefully he’ll be back to full fitness soon.Family Fun Day
The Family Fun Day on Sunday last was a big success with a great turnout from all our young players who really enjoyed the activities, later on it was the adults turn with a barbecue and music from Tucker, well done to Tina and her team for such a well organised event.Coffee Morning
A very successful Coffee morning was held in the club on Saturday morning last, organised by the ladies in the club in memory of the late Joan Kelly over €3000 was raised for MS Ireland, Joan’s family wish to thank everyone who helped and attended and to the Mean Bean who sponsored the coffee on the day.Legends Game
There was a fantastic atmosphere at the Legends game played out in Kilmacow on Sunday last in aid of Pieta House with a big Mount Sion involvement on the Waterford side led by arguably our biggest legend Greener! Our Under 11’s played in the half time game which was commentated on by the legendary Michael O’Muircheartaigh much to the lad’s delight ! Well done to all involved not only for raising money but also awareness for this great cause.Deise Draw
2018’s Deise Draw gets underway this month and tickets are now available from all the usual sources, this year there will be six draws at €15, this is a major fundraiser to help run our teams and we know it will be well supported within the club, for more details please contact Kenny Stafford.Fixtures
