Mount Sion GAA Club Notes
Paddy Sheridan Tournament
The second annual Paddy Sheridan Under 11 tournament took place in the club on Saturday last and Whitechurch, Dungarvan and St. Carthages were the visitors, Sion were very strong in the group stages with good performances all around the pitch and qualifed unbeaten for the final where St. Carthages proved tough opposition, after a tense first half our lads went into the break ahead and finished out the game as wineers after a dogged performance from the opposition, following this the man himself presented team captain Tadgh Corcoran with the trophy and commented on the standard of hurling and sportsmanship from all sides, thanks to our visitors to Paddy and his family and to the hard working club ladies who laid on the refreshments for everyone involved.Junior Football
Cnoc Sion 2-10
St. Mollerans 2-06
The Junior Footballers continued their good form of late when they emerged victorious over a tough St. Mollerans team in the club on Friday last, Sion started off the better of the two teams in the first half with some nicely worked points from play but were dealt a hammer blow when two Mollerans goals in quick succession threatened to put the visitors in control, try as they might though that was to be their last green flag and Sion were well in control before Ian Galgey’s sublime effort sealed the victory late in the secon half, final score Cnoc Sion 2-10 St. Mollerans’s 2-06, this result means we are now almost certainly qualified for the semi final which is just rewards for the hard work and committment put in by a large squad of players.Deise Draw
The first Deise Draw of 2018 took place on Wednesday last and we were lucky to have two winners , well done to Ken McGrath and Orla Fanning on their wins of €200 each, next draw takes place in Stradbally on 27th June and hopefully we’ll have some more winners.Camogie
The u12 girls were in a grading blitz on Wednesday evening in Carriganore, won first game against Gaultier but an extremely strong Cappoquin beat us in the next tie before we finished with another win against Clonea, fantastic display from the girls even though we were missing a few players on the night, the girls are playing the first round next Tuesday 5th of June against Gaultier at 6.30 in Mount Sion best of luck to all involved, team that played on Wednesday was Kayleigh McGrath ,Rhea Murtagh-Stafford , Ann Kennedy, Abbie O’Meara, Mia Cleere, Lauren O’Sullivan , Ava Mulrooney, Caitlin Cox and Kayleigh O’Connell.Fixtures
