Mount Sion GAA Club Notes
Minor Hurling
The first round of the Minor Hurling championship saw Sion make the short journey to Gracedieu to take on De La Salle on Tuesday night last and though our lads kept the home side to within three points early in the second half they proved too strong and ran out winners on a scoreline of 3-14 to 1-10, next game is another away trip to Ballygunner on the 18th July.
Dick Roche Tournament
The annual Under 9 Dick Roche tournament took place in the club on Saturday last and once more a feast of hurling was served up from all sides involved, we welcomed Lismore, St.Mary’s Clonmel, Carrick Swans, Geraldine O’Hallorans, Dungarvan & Glenmore to the club, some great games of hurling were played culminating in a thriller of a final between Sion and St. Mary’s which when the sides couldn’t be seperated at the ned of normal time went into extra time with Sion running out one point winners, well done to all involved and to the Roche family for organising the whole event.
Under 14’s
Our Under 14’s were invited to the prestigious Bride Rovers tournament in Cork on Saturday last playing two games losing out to St. Mary’s Clonmel by a point and beating Lismore by two points, some great work being done with group and the results and performances are starting to reflect this.Under 12’s
