Minor Hurling Final

Cnoc Sion 0-15

Ballygunner 0-16

The Minors took on Ballygunner in the County final on Saturday last hoping to go one better than last year when they lost out to the same opposition by the narrowest of margins , the first half was an even affair with Ballygunner restricting Sion’s scoring to five Jordan Roche points from frees and a Jamie Gleeson point from play before they notched a couple of points just before the break to put four points between the teams, half time score Cnoc Sion 0-06 Ballygunner 0-10, Sion’s best spell of the game happened in the first part of the second half with points coming from play from Jack Meaney, Alan Kirwan and Ben Frisby along with some top class saves from Josh Fanning denying certain goal chances at the other end, in a frenetic final few minutes Sion just couldn’t find the extra point to bring the game level and it was heartbreak once more as time ran out and Ballygunner won by the single point to become County Champions, final score Cnoc Sion 0-15 Ballygunner 0-16, this was a hard result to take for all involved but this is a very dedicated group of players and mentors and they will be back in 2019 stronger and challenging for silverware once more.

Under 11

Our Under 11’s were on their travels once more on Saturday when they went to the Dicksboro tournament in Kilkenny playing some very competitive games before they got back in time for the Minor final where unfortunately the result didn’t go the way as planned, well done to all the young lads and mentors.

Camogie

Under 8 training Mondays 6-7 in Carrickpherish Hall, Gracedieu €2
Under 12 training Tuesday 7-8 & Saturday 12-1 in Mount Sion GAA grounds
The Under 8’s are taking part in a blitz in De La Salle on Saturday 13th at 11am while the Under 12’s are playing a challenge match away to Dungarvan at 12pm
The Cabaret night for the camogie club on Saturday 6th of October was a huge success, thank you to all our girls and the families for coming and taking part. The Mount Sion choir were the main act and blew the roof off and finally the biggest thanks to Tina Gleeson for organizing this special night. Get well soon Tina.

Get Well Soon

Get well soon to Tina Gleeson who is out of action at the moment following a recent minor accident, Tina’s organisational skills in the club are legendary and hopefully it won’t be long before she’s back up and running.

Ladies Football

Our Under 15 ladies footballers were in action in the semi final against St Annes in Dunhill during the week, unfortunately the girls lost out by two points but in the process they scored seven goals in a very credible performance with their enthuasiasm on the pitch and sideline very encouraging to see, training will continue over the winter months and new players are always welcome.

Deise Draw

Tickets are still available for October’s final Deise draw of 2018 from all the usual sources or contact club co-ordinator Kenny Stafford.
