Mount Sion GAA Club Notes
Junior A Football Championship
Cnoc Sion 2-09
Shamrocks 0-12
There were jubilant scenes in Walsh Park as Sion claimed the County Junior A Football Championship against a dogged opposition from Shamrocks on a heavy pitch on Saturday last, extra time was needed to seperate the teams with a Martin F. O’Neill penalty twenty five minutes into the second half instrumental in bringing Sion back into the game, final score at full time Cnoc Sion 1-06 Shamrocks 0-09, Sion powered on a man of the match winning performance from dynamo Stephen Roche took control in added time running out worthy winners on a scoreline of 2-09 to 0-12 giving the monastery men their first title since 2013, this is a massive achievement all round and full credit must be given to Paul Galgey and Brian Flannery after a couple of hard years when the going was tough and it was hard to field a team, next step on this remarkable odyssey is to represent Waterford in Munster next weekend as Sion take on Cork champions Dromtarrife in Mallow, best of luck and we hope to see a big traveeling support to cheer on the lads on Saturday!A.G.M.
