Mount Sion GAA Club Notes
Senior Hurling
Cnoc Sion 3-17
Roanmore 0-13
The first round of the Senior Hurling Championship took place in Walsh Park on Saturday last against local rivals Roanmore, like the previous year’s meetings the men in light blue were first out of the blocks and raced into the lead giving John Meaney and his selectors plenty of food for thought as they went into the break four points down on a scoreline of 0-12 to 0-08, the second half saw a much improved Sion performance as they upped a gear and finished with three goals in the last quarter, two from Evan McGrath and one from Martin F. O’Neill with the defence holding Roanmore to a single point in this half, the only downside to the great result and performance was the serious injury to young Eddie Cullen, we all wish Eddie the best in his recovery and would like to express our thanks to Tony Madigan of Roanmore and Dr Mark Rowe for their assistance with Eddie’s injury.
