Mount Sion GAA Club Notes
Congratulations
A bit of good news this week, congratulations to Sharon and Darren “Gum” Ryan on the birth of their new son this week, a baby brother for Alfie, best wishes from everyone in Mount Sion!Albie Richards
Last week saw the severance of another link to the great Mount Sion sides of the fifties with the death of Albie Richards of Marian Park. A very talented dual player, Albie was the holder of six Senior Hurling Championship medals and three Senior Football, won in the period between 1956 and 1961 that included the senior hurling and senior football double winning years of ’56, ’59 and ’61. Albie was a tough, uncompromising player who gave his all on the field and was noted as a particularly talented footballer. In latter years he enjoyed nothing more than his couple of pints up the road in the Club Centre and the chat of old times. Also in the last week we saw the passing of Mrs Kathleen Sarsfield of Marian Park, wife to former club barman and long time GAA supporter the Late Paddy Sarsfield who was involved in the early days of Cnoc Sion. We also extend our sympathies to the Sarsfield Family at this sad time.
GAA Activities
To help keep the kids entertained over this quarantine period the GAA has many activities on its website including downloadable colouring books and training plans to help pass away the time, also we would ask that the zoom app not be used for training purposes as there are issues regarding it’s vunerability to hacking, Activities for kids, also a big shout out to all our members who are working in essential and frontline services and to everyone who is helping out in their communities during this difficult time.
