Mount Sion GAA Club Notes

Ball 2 Wall

What a weekend! Our Ball 2 Wall Challenge in aid of Waterford Marine Search and Rescue was a massive success, both in the fundraising and the amazing club spirit on show over the three days, after being apart for so long it was a delight to see so many club members and their extended families and members around the world take part with videos coming from all corners of the globe, to see generations of Mount Sion families line up and do their bit in the school yard and the ball alley showed the future is in good hands, a massive thanks to everyone who donated and to the amazing committee who made it all happen with a special shout out to Nicholas Mackey whose was the driving force behind the event and without whose enthusiasm it couldn’t have happened, we look forward to seeing our friends from the WMSAR up in the club when it reopens for the presentation.

Senior Hurling Championship

The fixtures for our Senior Hurling Championship games were announced during the week, our first game is against Clonea on Sunday July 26th at 2pm in Walsh Park, while we finish our group games against Roanmore on Sunday August 9th at 2pm also in Walsh Park.

Club Grounds Reopening

We were delighted to re-open the club grounds on Wednesday last in line with the GAA’s directive, we are following all protocols as outlined by the Association and the government and ask all our members and players to please adhere to all of these guidelines.

Last Man Standing

We’re getting down to the finish of probably the longest Last Man Standing we’ve ever had! Check out the updated page on the website and don’t forget your teams into Owen in plenty of time.

Deise Draw

The 2020 Deise Draw is now scheduled to start on August 26th and we hope all our members will sign up once more as this year especially the revenue stream for the club will be much needed. We have been also advised that there will still be the standard six draws. Prize money hopefully won’t be affected but may need to slightly adjusted if numbers are a lot lower than last year.

Development

The Dressing room building revamp is continuing following the break due to Covid, driveway to be tarmacced while the astro turf on the goals of the main pitch are complete.

We would ask those that have not yet paid the annual membership of €150 which includes entry in to the Deise Draw to do so please.

We would ask as many members as possible to join the Development Donation scheme, at this current time our only revenue is the scheme and membership. Anyone wishing to pay membership or join the Donation Scheme please contact any committee member.

My Life Challenge

We’re making our way slowly up the table in the mylife challenge, well done to all involved for keeping it up, we have some high performers as can be seen from the leaderboard in the app!
