Mount Sion GAA Club Notes
Senior Hurling Championship
Cnoc Sion 3-18
De La Salle 2-17
The Seniors were back in the Championship on Sunday knowing a vast improvement was needed if they were to beat De La Salle and progress on to the semi final stage, from the start Sion were positive and this was rewarded when Stephen Roche buried the ball in the back of the net to get them on the scoreboard, another goal on twenty minutes from Alan Kirwan helped put some distance between the sides but De La Salle never panicked and kept putting points on the board to give them the slenderest of leads at the break , half time score Cnoc Sion 2-06 De La Salle 0-13, whatever was said at half time worked with every player on the team playing out of his skin and spurred on by Martin O’Neill and Austin Gleeson they scored an incredible 1-09 in the first period of the second half with Kirwan getting his second and Sion’s third goal as they showed remarkable drive and passion to storm ahead, De La Salle though showed why they were hotly tipped for this game and staged a comeback later on but Sion’s weathered the storm running out winners by four points to progress to next week’s Semi finals, Scorers Alan Kirwan 2-00, Martin O’Neill 0-10, Stephen Roche 1-01, Michael Gaffney 0-02, Austin Gleeson 0-04, Martin F O’Neill 0-01 .Junior A Hurling Championship
The Junior A’s exited the Championship on Saturday against Tramore in Fenor, the teams were nip and tuck throughout the game and Tramore were made to work for every point from a determined Sion team who were in it until the closing stages when Tramore ran out winners by two points, tough luck and well done to all involved who had a good campaign with some notable wins along the way. Final Score Cnoc Sion 1-13 Tramore 1-15.Minor Hurling Championship
The Minors were in action on Thursday against Portlaw/Ballyduff and despite starting well ended up losing out to the combined side in a tough battle, well done to Nicky and his young team who put in a lot of work in a limited time to reach this stage, final score Cnoc Sion 2-12 Portlaw/Ballyduff 1-21.Junior B Championship
The Junior B’s marched on to the eastern Final with another good win on Friday night against St Mollerans in Dunhill, their mix of youth and experience has once more paid off and they’re more than worthy of their final place, final score Cnoc Sion 0-18 St Mollerans 1-08.Under 14 Championship
The Under 14’s travelled to Lismore on Saturday morning to take on St Carthages’ in the county semi final, a brave performance saw them just lose out to a last gasp winner for the Western team, well done lads on a good campaign and just narrowly missing out on a final place.Camogie

Deise Draw
The 2020 Deise Draw is now scheduled to start on August 26th and we hope all our members will sign up once more as this year especially the revenue stream for the club will be much needed. We have been also advised that there will still be the standard six draws. Prize money hopefully won’t be affected but may need to slightly adjusted if numbers are a lot lower than last year.Development
We would ask those that have not yet paid the annual membership of €150 which includes entry in to the Deise Draw to do so please. We would ask as many members as possible to join the Development Donation scheme, at this current time our only revenue is the scheme and membership. Anyone wishing to pay membership or join the Donation Scheme please contact any committee member.
