Mount Sion GAA Club
Senior Hurling Championship
Cnoc Sion 1-21
Passage 0-26
The Seniors were out for the third Sunday in a row in Walsh Park in the County semi final with a place in their first county final in six years at stake, Passage provided the opposition and would have been buoyed by their win the previous week, with all games now being played behind closed doors Sion were being cheered on from homes around Waterford and further afield, Sion got off to the best possible start when Stephen Roche netted after just four minutes to put them firmly in the driving seat, Passage though fought their way back and dominated after the water break with points going in from all over the field as they forced their way to an eight point lead at the break, half time score Cnoc Sion 1-06 Passage 0-17, Sion improved after the break asserting themselves across the pitch and reducing the lead to two points with some excellent scores and leadership from the more experienced players and while the clock ticked down they piled pressure on the Passage goal but were just unable to make the breakthrough that would have seen them go ahead, when the final whistle sounded Passage were relieved to win by two points but Sion can hold their head up high after their second half performance which saw them get so close to a final berth, well done to all involved for the massive commitment they have put in over the past few months when hurling returned.Junior B Hurling Championship
Cnoc Sion 3-11
Clonea 2-18
The Junior B’s played Clonea on Friday night in the Eastern Final in bad conditions in Dunhill, as throughout this year they put in a good performance but on the night they were outscored by Clonea who managed to get over the line by four points, well done to the team and mentors for the effort that was put into this year’s campaign.Condolences
It is with sadness that we heard of the death of Nellie Ryan during the week, mother to Eamon, Pat, Kevin, Michael and Úna and grandmother to Jack, Nellie was a great supporter of the Club down through the years particularly when the lads were playing. Our thoughts and prayers are with Nellie’s family at this sad time. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a h-anam..
Last Man Standing
There will be a new Last Man Standing for the club for the premier league season which starts on September 12th. Obviously given the current climate, any fundraiser for the club is vitally important so we’re asking again if players/members could enter and also get a few other people to take part. It’s €10 to enter and €500 for the winner. Kenny Stafford will be sending out the fixtures to choose from each week by text/Facebook/Twitter. Normal Last Man Standing rules apply and can be seen on the page on the club website.

Deise Draw
The 2020 Deise Draw starts this Wednesday August 26th and we hope all our members will sign up once more as this year especially the revenue stream for the club will be much needed. We have been also advised that there will still be the standard six draws. Prize money hopefully won’t be affected but may need to slightly adjusted if numbers are a lot lower than last year.Development
We would ask those that have not yet paid the annual membership of €150 which includes entry in to the Deise Draw to do so please. We would ask as many members as possible to join the Development Donation scheme, at this current time our only revenue is the scheme and membership. Anyone wishing to pay membership or join the Donation Scheme please contact any committee member.
