Mount Sion GAA Club Notes
Foodbank Collection
The second collection on Saturday for the Foodbank was another massive success, thanks to everyone who donated over the two weeks and especially to Slimming World Waterford who arrived up with huge amount of food on Saturday, this was part of our Healthy Club project in conjunction with Gaultier and great credit must go to our Healthy Club Officer Michael Power for all the hard work he has put in to keep this project going throughout such a difficult year. All Ireland Final
The big day is next Sunday and the club is looking well with the flags flying proudly! Very best wishes to all involved and to our own Austin Gleeson as they try to bring the Liam McCarthy back to Waterford for the perfect Christmas present for Waterford people all around the world.Last Man Standing
Last man Standing goes on for another week with nothing separating our two remaining players Cian O’Grady and Dave “Fly” Power both having wins this weekend with Liverpool and Leicester, lets see how next week goes and will we have a winner before Christmas?Christmas Day Swim
In what has now become an annual tradition the Billy Galgey Christmas Day swim takes place on the 25th at 11-15am at Tramore Slip, this year’s charity is the Waterford and South Kilkenny branch of Down Syndrome Ireland, a great cause close to many people’s hearts in Waterford, please sponsor any of the lads doing it and sponsorship cards are available from Paul or Ian Galgey.Dick Roche Tournament
Our Under 9’s and 10’s finished off their year on Saturday by taking part in the Dick Roche Tournament, while we were unable this year to have visiting teams the organisers came up a novel way to run it off by competing in a series of non contact games skills and challenges ! Special thanks to the Roche family as always for making the tournament happen in memory a great Mount Sion man, well done to Alex who captained the winning team and lifting the Dickie Roche cup and Alfie who captained the runners up bringing home the shield.
