Mount Sion GAA Club Notes
Senior Hurling
Cnoc Sion 1-27
Lismore 0-13
The Seniors travelled to Dungarvan on Sunday to take on Lismore in the quarter final of the 2022 Championship, both teams went into this game knowing there would be no second chances this year, it took a while for Sion to get into their stride but when they did they took control of the game and when the half time whistle blew the game was effectively over as a contest due mostly to an excellent running performance from Sion which Lismore couldn’t handle across all areas of the pitch, they kept up the pressure in the second half and were worthy winners on a scoreline of 1-27 to 0-13, after the game the draw was made for the semi finals and Sion once more face local rivals De La Salle next weekend in what promises to be another epic encounter.
Minor Hurling
A big crowd in Walsh Park on Wednesday saw a valiant performance by the Minors as they tried to overcome De La Salle to reach the County final, the boys left everything on the pitch but unfortunately it just wasn’t enough against a very strong side, the team has exceeded all expectations for the year and huge credit goes to everyone involved for all the hard work they put in and they can hold their heads up high, thanks to Bryan and his backroom team also.Junior A Hurlers
The Junior A Hurlers unfortunately exited the Championship at the semi final stage on Friday last against Ballygunner, a feisty affair ended with Ballygunner finishing the strongest despite Sion giving it their all up to the final whistle, well done to all involved for another good season of hurling.Junior B Hurling
The Junior B’s reached yet another Eastern Final on Tuesday as they came back to beat De La Salle after being behind in the first half, this young team had the legs of their opponents as they ran out comfortable winners in the end, the final is this Thursday with Dunhill providing the opposition, best of luck to all involved, this will be an all ticket game with the link on the Universe app.Tony Forristal Tournament
