Mount Sion GAA Club Notes

Paddy Sheridan Tournament

There was a great mornings hurling in the club on Saturday last when Graigue Ballycallan, Ballyduff Lower and Mullinavat brought their Under 11 teams to participate in the annual Paddy Sheridan blitz.
The occasion was made more poignant for Paddy’s friends, family and the club as it was the first time the blitz took place without Paddy present after his sad passing at the start of April.
Paddy would have been proud of the day, the effort, skill and passion on show and the support, encouragement and appreciation from the sidelines epitomised everything that Paddy dedicated so much of his life to.
Thanks to all involved, Tina, Pauline, Emer for the catering, Michael and his team in the centre, our referees and all parents, players and coaches from all our teams, your help was much appreciated.
Special thanks to juvenile chairperson Michael Power for all his hard work behind the scenes.
Finally we’d to thank the Sheridan family for allowing us to honour one of our finest club people, those of us in the club were privileged to know Paddy Sheridan and are proud to be able to remember him and the great work he did for our club and will continue to do so for years to come.

Family Fun Day

Date for the diary, 15th July, Family Fun Day takes place in the club , activities for all the family, this is a always a great day and we are already planning the events!

Mary Meade Tournament

The rescheduled Mary Meade tournament for boys and girls born in 2017 takes place in the club on 1st July, more details to follow nearer the time.

Deise Draw

The Deise Draw of 2023 is up and running and June’s draw will be taking place soon, thanks to everyone who bought tickets and supported this important fundraiser for the club, tickets for the next draws are still available from Kenny Stafford or any club member.

 

Camogie

Congratulations to the Mercy Primary school and our Mount Sion representatives on their county final widening the week, an amazing achievement we’re extremely proud

Below are the camogie training days/time.

Under 4-6’s, – Saturday mornings with the Cúl blues academy.
Under 7-8’s & 9-10s – Mondays from 6-7pm in the alley and all weather.
Under 10’s – Fridays 6-7 in the astro
Under 12’s – Mondays from 7:15 to 8.15pm in the alley and the all weather.
Under 13’s – Wednesdays from 7-8.30pm in the alley and the all weather.

Under 15’s – Tuesdays from 6-7pm in the alley and the all weather.
Please bring hurleys and helmets.

Our Under 14 girls play a challenge game against Butlerstown on Monday at 6.30pm in Mount Sion while our Under 12s play Tramore.
On Friday the Under 14s will also play Tramore at 6.30pm in Mount Sion.
