Mount Sion GAA Club Notes
Under 13 Hurling
A massive well done to our Under 13 team who won the Under 13A County Shield Final on Monday night last against Passage in SETU Arena.
Both teams produced a final worthy of the occasion with great displays on view from both sides with Sion emerging victorious after an excellent second half display.
Big thank you to Bord na nÓg for a very well run evening and to the coaches, players and parents for all their efforts this year.
Under 15 Hurling
Best of luck to our Under 15 Hurlers as they take on Roanmore in the County Hurling Cup Final in Carriganore on Tuesday night, tickets can be got from Under 15 Final, looking forward to seeing a big Mount Sion crowd out there on the night to cheer on the lads!Junior C Football
Our Junior ‘C’ Gaelic Football team welcomed Naomh Pòl to Mount Sion on Saturday last.
Following on from last weeks defeat to Tramore the ruthless Smiley made a number of changes to the starting 15, hiwever the twin towers of Josh and Ned kept their place in the middle of the field.
The Monastery men started the game well. Playing against his old foes Nicky O Toole was moving well in the half forward line, points from Lee Flanagan and Gavin Carroll gave the home side a healthy lead.
Highlight of the 1st half however was the fantastic goal scored by Naomh Pòl, our keeper Nicky Mackey is still diving for it.
Like last week a raft of changes were made at the break, veteran pair Scratchy and Willy Power(yes you read right) entered the fray, further scores from Wuzzy, Pooch and Kirwan stretched Sion’s lead.
Credit to the Parish men though, they began to dominate the midfield and scored 3 unanswered points, as the final whistle approached scores from Doocey and Evan Mackey gave Sion victory.
A special mention to Shane ‘Wuzzy’ Wyse on his scoring feat today.
Thanks to Naomh Pòl who on the day never gave up.
