Mount Sion GAA Club Notes
Martin “Og” Morrissey
It was with great sadness that the news broke of the passing of one of Mount Sion and Waterford ‘s greatest hurlers Martin “Og” Morrissey at the age of 90 last week.Captain of the 1953 Harty Cup winners he held it as one of his great honours alongside his winning of the senior All Ireland with Waterford in 1959.
Martin Óg went on to become one of Mount Sion’s and Waterford’s most decorated players, playing in all our championship winning teams from 1954 up to 1974, accumulating fourteen senior hurling and four senior football medals.
Mount Sion has lost one of its greats and the whole club and community wish to extend our sympathies to Martin’s wife Bríd and to his children Eamon, Frank, Martin, Róisín and Niamh and all Martin Óg’s family.
Codal sámh Óg, gan dabht, ní fhecfimid do leithéid arís.
